Clinical supervision for counsellors and psychotherapists in Canberra

Clinical Supervision

A reflective, professionally grounded space to deepen your practice, navigate complexity, and sustain your wellbeing as a practitioner.

Supporting the practitioners who support others

Clinical supervision is a structured, professional relationship that supports practitioners to reflect on their work, maintain ethical standards, and continue growing throughout their career. It is a cornerstone of quality clinical practice - not a luxury, but a necessity.

At Manuka Centre, our supervisors are experienced practitioners who understand the emotional and ethical demands of therapeutic work from the inside. Whether you are a trainee building confidence in your early practice, or an experienced clinician seeking a thoughtful space to explore complex cases, we offer supervision that is warm, rigorous, and grounded in evidenced-informed frameworks.

We work with counsellors, psychotherapists, social workers, and other allied health professionals in individual and small group formats - both in-person at our Griffith rooms and online.

What We Cover in Supervision

Case Reflection

Exploring clinical presentations, therapeutic dilemmas, and your responses - including countertransference, attachment dynamics, and relational patterns within the therapeutic relationship.

Ethical Practice

Navigating complex ethical situations, dual relationships, mandatory reporting obligations, and professional boundaries with confidence and clarity.

Professional Development

Supporting the ongoing growth of your clinical identity, skill set, and theoretical understanding - including modality-specific reflection for EFT, CBT, and trauma-informed practitioners.

Practitioner Wellbeing

Attending to vicarious trauma, compassion fatigue, burnout, and the emotional labour inherent in therapeutic work - so you can continue to show up sustainably for your clients.

Group Supervision

Small group formats that offer peer learning, shared reflection, and a sense of professional community. Particularly valuable for practitioners working in isolation or building private practices.

Trainee Support

Structured, supportive supervision meeting the requirements of counselling and social work training programs - with feedback, progress reflection, and a consistent supervisory alliance.

Common Questions

Who is clinical supervision for?

Clinical supervision is for any practitioner working in a helping or therapeutic role - including counsellors, psychotherapists, social workers, nurses, and allied health professionals. It is beneficial at every stage of career, from trainees to experienced clinicians.

How often should I have clinical supervision?

This depends on your professional registration, employer requirements, and personal needs. Many practitioners engage in supervision fortnightly or monthly. We will work with you to establish a frequency and format that suits your context.

Is clinical supervision confidential?

Yes. What you share in supervision is held in confidence, except in circumstances where there is a risk of serious harm - consistent with the same ethical obligations that apply in therapeutic practice. This will be discussed clearly at the outset.

Can clinical supervision be done online?

Yes. We offer both in-person supervision at our Griffith, Canberra rooms and secure online sessions via video call for practitioners who prefer or require remote access.
