About Jeanette

Qualifications: Master of Counselling, Certified EFT Therapist and Supervisor

Jeanette is an accredited Emotionally Focused Therapist (EFT) based in Canberra. She offers a gentle, calming, non-judgemental presence in her work with Individuals, couples and families.

As a psychotherapist and counsellor, she takes a careful, trauma-informed approach, as she works through the lens of attachment to help clients make sense of their lives and their experience of relationship distress.

She supports clients in understanding that conflict is a natural part of all relationships, but how we respond to it can be the true game-changer. The choices we make can either bring us closer to those we love or push us further away. Jeanette is committed to helping couples de-escalate conflict while building insight and awareness around their inner experiences and the emotional triggers that fuel negative cycles. As a result, clients develop their own blueprint for reducing conflict and to find meaningful ways to reconnect, reset, and repair.

In 2024, Jeanette earned recognition as an Emotionally Focused Therapist (EFT) by the International Centre for Excellence in Emotionally Focused Therapy (ICEEFT). She holds clinical registration with PACFA and a Master’s in Counselling from the University of Canberra. Complementing her EFT expertise, Jeanette is trauma-informed and brings additional training in neuroscience, body language, somatic therapy, mindfulness and meditation, the Gottman Method, Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), and Narrative Therapy. She is also a PACFA-registered Clinical Supervisor and an EFT Supervisor in training.

Previous experience: Jeanette has worked in private practice for over 8 years and she has also worked for Australia’s national relationship organisation, in areas such as the Coronial Program and Family and Relationships Program. Jeanette supported clients working through bereavement, grief and loss, trauma, and relationship distress. She has also facilitated group programs, including Building Better Relationships and Women’s Choice and Change.

Background: With a background and qualifications in Clinical Pastoral Care education, Jeanette spent over five years working in Canberra's hospital environments, collaborating with clinical teams and patients to provide person-centred support.

Before becoming a therapist, Jeanette built a successful career in Public Relations in the UK. Holding undergraduate qualifications in communications and postgraduate study in International Public Relations, she emigrated to Australia in 1992 and transitioned to working in the Australian Public Service.
